I took an introductory sculpture course over a decade ago and so far I have produced 4 carvings, two in limestone and two in wood, one Tropical Cedar and the other Purple Heart wood. The jauguar head was the result of the course and inspired by Aztec carvings.

The paddle in cedar was the result of the need for an oar for practical reasons in the mangroves, but became a mermaid!
The double headed dragon represents the meso-American god, Quetzalcoatl and is the natural colour of the wood.
I love the simplicity of the process, like drawing, you are engaged in only one function which is here, the simple removal of material.
And I enjoy the idea of creating a solid object in the round with a unique tactile quality.
